The right gear for drinking water
Pumps to clear sludge, scrubbing to remove biofilm, and disinfectant meant for potable storage.

Shaana is a small residential quarter in east Jeddah near Asfan and the hills, where the air is drier and the dust is coarser than on the coast. Tanks here collect construction dust and sandy sediment. Roof tank water leaves grey films in basins and baths even when the tank is clean. The water carries less salt than the coast but more sand and loose earth.
Tanks in Shaana hold thick sandy sediment because the nearby hills and open dry ground stir fine dust into the air that settles quickly. For the method itself, see our water tank cleaning service in detail.
Shaana sits near Wadi Al Ghawla and the hills, and dry air carries very fine sand particles from open earth and roads. This sand sinks to the tank bottom fast and builds up in thick layers that harden when wet and dry repeatedly.
East Jeddah winds open doors and windows, and dust works its way into every gap. The tank may be sealed, but small gaps in pipes and fittings allow dust to creep in. Fine particles settle in the tank faster here than inland.
Fine sand particles do not dissolve fully in cool water, so they leave a grey film in basins and sinks that reappears daily. Water from the tank carries suspended particles so fine they look like a haze when they settle.
Shaana is furthest from the sea and closest to open ground and hills beyond the ring roads, so the air is drier, the dust coarser and paler than on the coast.
The tank in Shaana carries thick sandy sediment at the bottom because dry air carries fine sand particles from the hills and open ground that settle immediately.
Draining is relatively quick because fine sand does not stick like clay, but the volume is large and water must drain carefully so sand does not suspend and cloud the outflow.
Sediment here is 90 per cent fine sand with dust and street earth. Sand settles fast and does not cling to walls as hard as sediment elsewhere, so it is easier to rinse away.
Walls and floor are scrubbed by hand but fine sand does not adhere strongly, so simple water and light scrubbing remove it from walls. The floor takes more attention because sand accumulates there.
Disinfection is essential because sand alone is not the problem; bacteria and algae grow in sandy water, and summer heat speeds the growth so chemicals must be thorough.
Final inspection confirms the water carries no suspended sand particles, pipes are clear of sand, and the lid seals tightly to keep dust from re-entering the tank.
The supply into the tank is shut and the tank is drained completely.
The sludge on the floor is scooped and pumped out first.
The biofilm on the walls is physically scrubbed off.
With the walls and floor clean, a disinfectant made for drinking-water storage is applied and given time to act on every surface.
The disinfectant and any loosened residue are rinsed down and pumped out, so the first tank of water after us is not carrying it.
We check the cover seal and inlet before refilling, so dust and insects stay out, then start the refill while you watch it run clear.
We reach the tank via Wadi Al Ghawla, which runs near the quarter, or the University of Jeddah Road that borders the area to the east. Shaana is small so houses are close together and addresses are easy to pinpoint from the main road.

We send a team, not one person, so a tank is drained, cleaned, disinfected and refilled in a single visit rather than left open for days.
We look at the lid seal and inlet, because a tank that got dirty fast usually has a way in.
Nothing is closed until the tank is refilling and you have seen the water run clean.

The commitment is simple enough to actually keep: we do not leave until the tank is disinfected, refilling, and you have seen it for yourself.
East Jeddah lies furthest from the sea and closest to the open ground and hills beyond the ring roads, so the air is drier and the dust is coarser and paler than on the coast. It comes in under doors and settles on every flat surface overnight, making sofas, mattresses and curtains the heaviest part of the routine. Floors are mostly ceramic tile in the apartment districts and marble in the villa areas, both scratched by grit that is mopped rather than swept. Roof tank water leaves a grey film of sediment in baths and basins.
We provide these in Shaana too, and more than one can share a single visit.
