The right gear for drinking water
Pumps to clear sludge, scrubbing to remove biofilm, and disinfectant meant for potable storage.

Al Huda is a southern district formerly known as Al Tahlawi, east of Al Sanabil and south of Al Ajawid, with three storey apartment buildings setting the pattern and new villas now going up on vacant plots, served by Al Laith Road and its local landmarks. Tanks here sit in shared buildings or in newly built villas, and water from the coast carries salt and truck dust together, so ceramic floors in the flats blacken quickly from cloudy water.
Tanks in the apartment buildings here are shared between several floors, and new villas are now being built with their own separate tanks. For the method itself, see our guide to water tank cleaning.
The three storey flats in Al Huda have one tank serving them all. We need approval from all the owners, and coordination is difficult if they disagree about timing.
The location between the sea and the main road means mixed deposits. Salt settles with heavy diesel dust, a hard layer on the walls.
A new villa may need skilled and quick work, while an old flat may need longer scrubbing and deep cleaning.

Inspection of a shared tank: we check the exterior first for any salt or rust marks, and confirm the lid seal and filter are intact before opening.
Water from the sea and trucks carries both salt and heavy particles, so we drain it completely and leave no small amount behind.
Hard sediment from mixed salt and dust needs strong scrubbing and time; we may use weak food safe acid to break down thick salt layers.
Walls in shared apartment tanks carry white and black salt and dust together; we scrub everything with warm water and a hard brush.
Disinfection in an old coastal area takes longer; we allow the chemical a full two hours to penetrate and work thoroughly.
The lid and filter may be very weak; we recommend replacing both if they are damaged or not sealing properly.
The supply into the tank is shut and the tank is drained completely.
The sludge on the floor is scooped and pumped out first.
The biofilm on the walls is physically scrubbed off.
With the walls and floor clean, a disinfectant made for drinking-water storage is applied and given time to act on every surface.
The disinfectant and any loosened residue are rinsed down and pumped out, so the first tank of water after us is not carrying it.
We check the cover seal and inlet before refilling, so dust and insects stay out, then start the refill while you watch it run clear.

We send a team, not one person, so a tank is drained, cleaned, disinfected and refilled in a single visit rather than left open for days.
We look at the lid seal and inlet, because a tank that got dirty fast usually has a way in.
Nothing is closed until the tank is refilling and you have seen the water run clean.

The commitment is simple enough to actually keep: we do not leave until the tank is disinfected, refilling, and you have seen it for yourself.
Al Huda lies near Al Huda Mosque, Al Huda Park and Al Huda Health Centre, so homes are easily located by these well known landmarks. We reach any property via Al Laith Road from the west or from the neighbouring Al Ajawid Street to the north.
We provide these in Al Huda too, and more than one can share a single visit.
