The right gear for drinking water
Pumps to clear sludge, scrubbing to remove biofilm, and disinfectant meant for potable storage.

Al Atheer is a small locality on the south eastern edge of Jeddah, administratively part of Bahrah for services, situated on the Jeddah Makkah Expressway. Development is lighter than central Jeddah with newer homes among open plots. The location between sea and heavy goods traffic brings oily diesel soot and workshop grit. Tanks here need strong cleaning, and coastal humidity accelerates algae growth.
Tanks here carry black oily dust from diesel and heavy workshop equipment, older housing has cement floors that darken where soot settles easily, and coastal humidity causes rapid mildew and musty odours. For the method itself, see how we approach water tank cleaning.
In Al Atheer, the expressway is very close. Diesel dust and grit from truck workshops enter the tank easily. Heavy black grime settles fast on the floor and clouds the water. Cleaning removes this industrial accumulation completely.
Al Atheer is very near the water. High humidity and warmth speed up algae and mould in the tank. Strong disinfection is more critical here than in inland neighbourhoods distant from the shore.
Older low rise homes here have plain cement floors that blacken where soot is walked in. This soot enters the tank from the water supply. Cleaning must remove all this industrial grime from the tank completely.

In Al Atheer we open the tank and inspect the floor first. Black diesel ash covers the floor in a thick layer.
Draining can be slow because the diesel contaminated water is heavy. We handle it carefully.
Deposits here are black-grey soot from diesel and workshops, not sandy or lime scale. Powerful suction is essential.
Scrubbing walls and floor by hand is vigorous to lift black soot layers that stick fast.
Disinfection is strong because humidity, heat and industrial pollution promote rapid bacteria and mould growth.
Final rinsing is vigorous to clear soot from pipework before the water is used again.
The supply into the tank is shut and the tank is drained completely.
The sludge on the floor is scooped and pumped out first.
The biofilm on the walls is physically scrubbed off.
With the walls and floor clean, a disinfectant made for drinking-water storage is applied and given time to act on every surface.
The disinfectant and any loosened residue are rinsed down and pumped out, so the first tank of water after us is not carrying it.
We check the cover seal and inlet before refilling, so dust and insects stay out, then start the refill while you watch it run clear.
Mixed district: shops at street level with homes above them
The mixed district is very close to the Jeddah Makkah Expressway. Heavy black diesel dust and workshop grit enter the tank easily. Coastal humidity causes extra mould. Older tanks retain contamination longer.

We send a team, not one person, so a tank is drained, cleaned, disinfected and refilled in a single visit rather than left open for days.
We look at the lid seal and inlet, because a tank that got dirty fast usually has a way in.
Nothing is closed until the tank is refilling and you have seen the water run clean.

The commitment is simple enough to actually keep: we do not leave until the tank is disinfected, refilling, and you have seen it for yourself.
South Jeddah runs from the port and the industrial city down towards Al Khumrah, and homes here sit between the sea and the heavy goods roads. The dust is darker and oilier than in the north, a mix of diesel soot and workshop grit, and it clings to net curtains, window sills and the tops of kitchen cupboards. Floors in the older low rise housing are often plain cement or ceramic tile that darkens where soot is walked in. Humidity from the coast adds mildew in bathrooms and a musty smell in stored fabrics.
We provide these in Al Atheer too, and more than one can share a single visit.
