We test before we clean
Testing the solution on a hidden fold is a step we treat as necessary, not optional.

Al Mahamid is an old informal district on Jeddah's eastern edge beside the Old Makkah Road, with unplanned low rise housing, many unpaved streets and drainage that is old and underneath. Coarse dust enters through windows large and small. Moisture seeps from aged pipes buried in walls. Curtains carry age and must smell long before they carry a visible stain.
Curtains here smell old without looking visibly soiled. Moisture from old pipes and foundations makes the fabrics heavy and stale even when they appear clean at first glance. For the method itself, see what curtain cleaning involves.
Moisture and mustiness have soaked into the weave over years. Quick washing does not lift the smell. We soak the curtains in tepid water with a targeted compound for an hour or longer. Thorough rinsing and air drying removes the old smell completely.
Water from aged pipes carries iron oxides and heavy minerals. These leave yellow or brown marks on the curtains. We treat these with a specialist solution before washing. Very old stains may leave a faint trace but we remove most of it.
Rust from the old metal rails marks the curtain edges with red or orange specks. We take down with care and clean the rings and rails with a damp cloth. Rehang goes on clean metal to prevent fresh rust marks.
The district is old at foundation level. Unpaved streets allow sand and coarse grit to enter directly. Aged pipes below ground leak moisture that finds its way indirectly to the fabrics and walls.
Old fabrics are highly sensitive and may have weakened from moisture and rust over decades. We test the sample first and use cool water and very gentle detergent only. Aged cotton may shed or split with hard washing.
Removing rings from corroded rails needs extreme care. The rails may be weak or broken. We remove slowly and inspect each ring carefully. If any ring is cracked or missing we tell you before rehang.
Dry vacuuming lifts surface dust. Deep moisture makes the weave heavy so we soak first. A gentle vacuum power only to avoid harming weak aged fabrics.
Iron, rust and yellowing stains are treated with specialist solvent before washing. Musty stains need soaking first then treatment. Very deep stains may leave a faint trace.
Old fabrics wash in cool water only. Soaking is long to remove odours and ancient mineral salts. Thorough rinsing is critical to remove every trace of water and detergent from weakened fibres.
Air drying in moving air and shade is slow but safe. Rehang may need two people because damp old fabrics are heavy. Deep creases may not fully drop but they ease with air flow.
Cotton, linen, velvet, blackout weave and synthetic sheers do not take the same heat or the same solution.
Before any water.
A water spot at the hem is not treated like a greasy film near a kitchen.
We loosen what has bonded inside the fibres across the full panel, both faces and top to hem, with the method that suits the fabric, while the curtains stay on the rail so the drape is not disturbed.
The loosened dirt and water are pulled back out in the same pass.
We go over the panels with you before the team leaves.
Mixed district: shops at street level with homes above them
Shops at street level below flats mean dust from traffic and commerce enters through windows and gaps. Curtains hold moisture from old pipes and walls, plus rust from old metal, all at once. We know how to tackle all these challenges without losing the fragile aged fabrics.
Testing the solution on a hidden fold is a step we treat as necessary, not optional.
We send a team, not a single worker.
The cleaning and extraction machines come with the team.
If a panel needs a tailor rather than a clean, we say so.

The commitment is simple enough to actually keep: we do not leave before you have seen the result and told us what you think of it.
East Jeddah lies furthest from the sea and closest to the open ground and hills beyond the ring roads, so the air is drier and the dust is coarser and paler than on the coast. It comes in under doors and settles on every flat surface overnight, making sofas, mattresses and curtains the heaviest part of the routine. Floors are mostly ceramic tile in the apartment districts and marble in the villa areas, both scratched by grit that is mopped rather than swept. Roof tank water leaves a grey film of sediment in baths and basins.
We provide these in Al Mahamid too, and more than one can share a single visit.
