We test before we clean
Testing the solution on a hidden fold is a step we treat as necessary, not optional.

Al Balad is Jeddah's historic heart, coral limestone houses with wooden rawashin lattice in narrow lanes and old souqs, a built fabric from centuries past. Curtains here hang from wrought iron or simple rods, and fabrics are old and thin from the houses themselves. Cleaning needs experience with heritage and caution because everything is fragile from age and long use.
Fine black dust from the souqs and narrow crowded streets settles on curtains quickly, and the fabrics are very old and thinner than anywhere else, and the wrought rods are historical and sensitive. The air in narrow lanes traps dust that never quite leaves. For the method itself, see what curtain cleaning involves.
Al Balad is a district centuries old, with lanes so narrow and souqs always crowded. Fine black dust from markets and craftspeople clings to curtains, and weak ventilation in narrow streets lets dirt accumulate. Curtains here are heavier and dirtier than in new districts.
Al Balad houses are coral stone hundreds of years old, wrought iron rods are historic, and curtain fabrics are very old and thin. Everything is fragile from age, and removal and washing need extreme care because fabric may tear and rods may break.
Al Balad is very old simple homes and flats, some are family homes, some are tourist boutique hotels and some are shops. Curtains in a family home need different handling than in a tourist hotel. Some homes have high humidity and some are dry because the old structure lets water through.
Al Balad is the historic district of central Jeddah, UNESCO World Heritage listed coral stone houses, with traditional souqs and markets around Bab Makkah and Bab Sharif. The narrow lanes and dense quarters define the character.
Al Balad is a very ancient historic district, so we ask about the age of curtains and rods before starting. Some may be very old.
Removal from historic wrought rods needs extreme care, and old fixings may break.
Dry vacuum removes fine black dust from souqs gently, and strong suction may pull fragile fabrics.
Old marks and grime are treated very gently, and soaking may be better than rubbing.
Cleaning is very gentle on weak old fabrics, and warm water and repeated rinsing are used.
Drying needs care and old fabrics dry slowly, and direct hanging may distort weak materials.
Cotton, linen, velvet, blackout weave and synthetic sheers do not take the same heat or the same solution.
Before any water.
A water spot at the hem is not treated like a greasy film near a kitchen.
We loosen what has bonded inside the fibres across the full panel, both faces and top to hem, with the method that suits the fabric, while the curtains stay on the rail so the drape is not disturbed.
The loosened dirt and water are pulled back out in the same pass.
We go over the panels with you before the team leaves.
Testing the solution on a hidden fold is a step we treat as necessary, not optional.
We send a team, not a single worker.
The cleaning and extraction machines come with the team.
If a panel needs a tailor rather than a clean, we say so.

The commitment is simple enough to actually keep: we do not leave before you have seen the result and told us what you think of it.
Al Balad surrounds Souq Al Alawi and Souq Al Badu near Bab Makkah and Bab Sharif in central Jeddah, and work reaches the homes through the narrow lanes of the old district. Nassif House and Al Shafi'i Mosque are nearby historic landmarks, and the entire neighbourhood is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We provide these in Al Balad too, and more than one can share a single visit.
