We treat the incense, not mask it
Bakhoor residue is cleaned out of the seating and curtains and off the walls, so fresh oud is not sitting on months of old smoke.

Al Balad is the historic centre of Jeddah, with ancient buildings of coral limestone and wooden rawashin lattice windows registered as a UNESCO world heritage site. Majlis rooms here have high ceilings and stone and wood floors, thick stone walls that absorb moisture and smell. The popular souqs and narrow lanes around bring dust and moisture from outside. Cleaning needs care with old heritage materials, and gentle dust removal without harming the ancient stone and wood.
High ceilings and thick stone walls collect dust deep, and old wood is sensitive to water and dampness. For the method itself, see our guide to majlis and diwaniya cleaning.
In Al Balad the buildings are ancient coral stone and the wood is thin and extremely delicate. Cleaning with much water or strong solutions can damage the stone and crack the wood. We need very gentle washing with dry cloth first, then a light solution with little water, then immediate drying.
High ceilings in old houses collect dust from the popular souqs and narrow lanes around. Dust settles on wooden ceilings and old ornaments. Removing dust from ceilings and carvings needs care so we do not scratch or harm the wood.
Ancient stone and wood are frail and afraid of moisture. Narrow lanes and markets around bring moisture and smell from outside. Mould can grow on wood and stone fast. We need a specialist solution that removes moisture without harming the heritage materials.

Ceilings and high corners in heritage buildings are extremely delicate, we clean them with a soft brush and dry cloth only.
Heavy fabrics and curtains in old houses we dry gently without hard rubbing, the wood is sensitive.
Ancient glass and old mirrors we wipe with soft dry cloth and very little water, we do not use strong solutions.
Stone and wood floors we sweep with a very soft brush then dry wipe only, no water.
The guest bathroom in the old house must be aired well because dampness harms stone and wood.
Ventilation is essential in Al Balad, open windows early morning to bring fresh air in daily.
Seating, carpet, curtains and surfaces, before anything starts, so we agree the scope and what the price covers.
Majlis seating and curtains vary from cotton to velvet and heavy weaves, and they do not take the same heat or product.
Before any water, on the seating and the carpet both.
Gahwa, cardamom and food are not one problem.
We choose the method after seeing each piece, loosen what has bound into the seating and carpet, and extraction pulls it straight back out with the water, in one pass, so nothing is left soaking in the foam.
We go back through the room with you.

We test the fabric on a hidden spot before we clean it.
The company runs several teams, and we send a team rather than one person.
If the seating needs reupholstering rather than cleaning, we say so.

The commitment is small enough to actually keep: we do not leave until you have seen the result and told us what you think of it.
In Al Balad around Souq Al Alawi and Souq Al Badu close to Bab Makkah, the majlis sits in an ancient coral stone house overlooking narrow popular markets. Nassif House and Al Shafi'i Mosque are nearby, and the heritage location means everything is old and sensitive to water.
We provide these in Al Balad too, and more than one can share a single visit.
