The access to reach it safely
A crystal fixture over a stairwell is not a job for a kitchen stool.

Al Hindawiyah is an old, crowded quarter dating from the nineteenth century beside Jeddah Islamic Port, with dense apartment blocks and over 200 shops packed at street level. Chandeliers hang in very tight rooms above cluttered furniture. Wiring is very old and ceilings are low, so the team works with extreme care to avoid damaging walls, furniture and the neighbours sharing the same stairwell.
The fixture hangs in a very tight room amid clutter, and the team needs skill not to break anything or disturb the neighbours sharing the same building. For the method itself, see the full chandelier cleaning page.
The old quarter holds very small rooms crammed with old furniture. The fixture hangs in a tight space, and the team cannot move much furniture to work. Protection from water and dust must be precise and complete.
Wiring is decades old, may be deteriorating, and the ceiling mount is ancient. Ceilings are very low and the team must mind their head and body carefully. Tall ladders cannot be used.
Adjoining flats mean noise and movement disturb the neighbours. The team works quietly and carefully, and early hours are better. Port traffic and maritime movement nearby mean constant activity.

Careful inspection of the old fixture and deteriorating wiring. The old ceiling mount may be weak, so structural safety is checked carefully.
Power is cut at the main breaker. Old wiring is genuinely hazardous and complete disconnection is confirmed before anything is touched.
Photographs before dismantling are precise because the room is tight and details are small and must be exactly remembered.
Each piece is washed with extreme care in warm water. Old furniture and old flooring are both very sensitive to water.
Old frame and arms are cleaned very gently, careful not to crack or break. Old metals may be fragile.
Refitting is extremely slow, power is restored with care, and the light is tested carefully in the tight confined space.
The circuit is switched off before anything is touched, and warm bulbs are given time to cool.
We check how it is built, which crystals are loose, and how it comes apart before removing a thing.
The area under the fixture is covered before we start, so a dropped crystal lands soft and nothing marks the floor or table below.
Where the piece allows, crystals come off and are washed and dried individually.
With the crystals off or aside, the frame, arms, bulb holders and ceiling mount are wiped down, since that is where film and webs hide behind the glass.
Every crystal goes back to its place, the fixture is switched on and checked, and we walk the room with you.
A crystal fixture over a stairwell is not a job for a kitchen stool.
We send a team, not one person, so crystals come off, get washed and go back in one visit, without a lone worker hurrying a fragile piece to finish before dark.
Whether crystals come off or are cleaned in place depends on how the fixture is built.
Nothing is done until the fixture is back together, switched on, and you have seen it throw its light.

The commitment is simple enough to actually keep: we do not leave until the fixture is reassembled, lit, and you have seen it for yourself.
Al Hindawiyah sits close to Jeddah Islamic Port on Port Street and Al Dhahab Street, and is an old quarter dense with buildings and shops. Access from Port Street is sometimes difficult because of port traffic and vehicle movement, so the team arrives early and asks for parking directions.
We provide these in Al Hindawiyah too, and more than one can share a single visit.
