We test before we treat
Reading the water first isn't optional to us.

Petromin is a popular quarter in south Jeddah beside the Jeddah oil refinery, within the old Al Karantina area that was replanned and rebuilt. Construction continues and vacant plots sit between the villas and flats. Pools here are in simple homes for limited families. Water can carry dust from the refinery and desert winds, and dry air means fast evaporation and easy settling of airborne matter on the surface.
Pools here are basic and simple, without advanced pump or filter technology, and water needs regular testing because dust enters easily and evaporation is rapid. For the method itself, see the full swimming pool cleaning page.
The refinery beside the district releases fumes and dust, and ongoing construction raises soil into the air. Water gets dirty fast and may carry an odour or tint from nearby industry. We test carefully and check for odour and clarity before approving the water for use.
Dry desert air means very rapid evaporation. Water level drops visibly in days, and as water evaporates, salt and minerals concentrate on the surface. White scale appears faster than in coastal areas despite the quarter being far from the sea, because the aridity concentrates minerals quickly.
Most villas here are built cheaply and simply, with old or non-professional equipment. The filter may be basic type, and pipework can be clogged. We inspect equipment carefully and may suggest parts replacement or repair before we start work.
The quarter sits beside Jeddah Refinery, separated by a single main road, within the replanned old quarantine zone. Ground is ordinary, air is dry, and ongoing construction with unfinished plots are common.
Water testing must include checking for dust and cloudiness, especially on windy days after construction activity.
Brushing may take extra effort if scale is from mineral concentration rather than algae.
Vacuuming is essential to remove dust and sediment from the constantly-loaded floor.
Skimmer and baskets load fast with dust and debris in an area with ongoing construction.
Filter backwash may be needed between regular maintenance because dust load is high.
Balancing chemistry takes time because water may be hard or affected by mineral sediment.
pH, sanitiser and hardness are read at the start.
Floating leaves and debris come off before we brush.
Algae and the oily waterline film cling to the surfaces.
Silt settles in the deep end and the corners the return jets never reach.
The skimmer and pump baskets are cleared and the filter checked or backwashed.
With the water clean, we balance and dose, then walk the pool with you before leaving.
Reading the water first isn't optional to us.
The company runs a large crew, and we send a team rather than one person.
Pumps, vacuum heads and the test kit come with the team.
If the pump or the plumbing is the real problem, we tell you.
Photographs from real jobs carried out by the crew.

The commitment is simple enough to actually keep: we don't leave until you've seen the result and had your say on it.
Petromin is known by its position beside Jeddah Refinery and by Al Falah Road and Al Nujoom Roundabout. Access to the villas runs through these landmarks, and proximity to the refinery clearly marks the location for any worker or visitor.
We provide these in Petromin too, and more than one can share a single visit.
