We test before we degrease
Testing the solution on a hidden spot is a step we treat as necessary, not optional.

Al Mazloom is one of the four historic quarters inside the old walled city of Jeddah, where flats are packed tightly into heritage stone buildings, and pipes run shared between neighbours above and below. Grease from every kitchen deposits in the shared lines, and the dense neighbourhood traps humidity that leaves heavy mineral scale on taps and drains. The old hob needs careful handling, and rust marks in the sink tell the story of pipes that have seen centuries.
Mineral deposits in Al Mazloom are heavier than in new neighbourhoods, hard water and high humidity from the dense buildings deposit continuously on taps, drains and the hob. For the method itself, see our guide to kitchen cleaning.
The flat sits in an old close-packed building where pipes are shared with neighbours above, below and to each side. Every neighbour's kitchen grease travels down the lines and accumulates with your own, causing blockages and stubborn odours that cleaning your kitchen alone will not solve.
Water in Al Mazloom is hard, and white deposits coat taps, drains and the hob thickly. This mineral layer traps grease beneath it, making removal difficult. Scale must be dissolved first before the grease underneath can be lifted cleanly.
Old wood cabinetry and vintage hobs are fragile and often cracked or warped. Strong products will worsen damage, and the appliances may be antiques worth preserving. A balanced formula and very gentle technique are essential.
A historic quarter in the north east of Al Balad inside the old city wall, with heritage stone and timber houses in the roshan style, dense urban tissue mixing housing and trade.
Old wood cabinetry from centuries past may be cracked or severely warped, strong products will worsen damage, and drying must be very rapid to prevent moisture swelling in historic timber.
The extractor hood is old or may be absent, so ventilation is poor and grease hangs in the air longer, settling on surfaces and in textiles throughout the flat.
The hob is antique iron or brass, possibly rusty or pitted with age, so cleaning must prevent further corrosion and preserve the patina that represents historical authenticity.
Tiles behind the hob are centuries old, possibly hand-made or unique, and hard scrubbing risks breaking them or stripping historical surface characteristics that are irreplaceable.
The sink and tap are very old, brass may be blackened by oxidation, and mineral scale is so thick it may require long soaking in a specialist descaler before any grease underneath can be reached.
The floor is very old terrazzo or ceramic from centuries, polished smooth by long wear, and hard scrubbing can etch it or leave it darkened permanently, so technique must be extremely gentle throughout.
Painted cabinets, laminate, natural stone and stainless steel do not take the same degreaser.
We start high, the tops of cabinets and the hood, and work down to the floor.
The degreaser is put on the heavy areas and given time to break the oil down before it is wiped.
The metal filter carries the worst of the grease and is soaked and worked on its own, not just wiped in place, because a clogged filter puts the oil straight back into the air.
The burners, the tiled splash and the grout lines take focused work, since the grout darkens first and a flat wipe passes over it.
We go over the kitchen with you before the team leaves.
Historic district: close-set buildings, narrow lanes and ageing services
Historic district in Al Mazloom means everything is interlocked: pipes are shared, walls are crammed tight together, humidity is high from density. This transforms cleaning fundamentally: grease may originate elsewhere, mineral deposits run deep, and cabinets are so old they demand extreme care and gentleness.
Testing the solution on a hidden spot is a step we treat as necessary, not optional.
We send a team, not a single worker.
The degreasers and tools come with the team.
If what the kitchen needs is a repair or pest treatment rather than a clean, we say so.

The commitment is simple enough to actually keep: we do not leave before you have seen the result and told us what you think of it.
Central Jeddah is the old heart of the city: Al Balad with its coral stone houses, and the dense apartment quarters around it with shops beneath the flats. Floors here are often terrazzo or older ceramic tile, worn smooth and easily stained by cooking grease that drifts up from the street. Older kitchens and bathrooms carry heavy scale on taps and around drains, and pipework in the older blocks leaves rust marks in basins. Rugs and curtains take on the fine black dust of the main roads, so they need washing more often than elsewhere.
We provide these in Al Mazloom too, and more than one can share a single visit.
