The right gear for drinking water
Pumps to clear sludge, scrubbing to remove biofilm, and disinfectant meant for potable storage.

Al Riyadh lies east of central Jeddah near the university and main roads, with relatively newer housing and construction. The dust rising from the dry roads around it reaches the tank, and grey sediment settles on the floor fast. The water from your tank carries the dust of the old roads before it reaches you, because the air here is drier and dust comes in under doors more easily.
Tanks here fill with fine sand and grey dust from the dry air and surrounding roads, so sediment builds up quickly, lighter than coastal towns but faster than enclosed central districts. For the method itself, see what water tank cleaning involves.
Dry air in the east carries fine pale dust that comes in under doors and windows. The tank is not protected from this. Grey dust settles on the floor fast, and water clouds easily if the tank is exposed or poorly sealed. Dust that enters with the water settles within hours.
University of Jeddah Road and Asfan Road surround the district, and fine sand from these roads clings to everything. Water entering the tank may carry fine sand that settles on the floor. Sediment builds faster here than in the central quarters shielded from traffic dust.
Dry air means less algae than the coast, but new water leaves white mineral deposits on upper walls and pipes. Scrubbing here is easier than coastal areas, but removing mineral crust takes care. The deposits are harder and more brittle than coastal slime.

We inspect the tank from outside, check the lid and seals, and ask about the water source and last cleaning date.
We drain all water fully and confirm all external water sources are closed so no fresh water enters during cleaning.
We vacuum grey dust and fine sand from the floor completely, as fine sand accumulates quickly in dry areas.
We scrub walls and floor hard, especially white mineral deposits that stick to upper walls and are difficult to remove.
We disinfect with strong certified water-safe agents that kill bacteria and any microbes dust may have carried in.
We rinse with clean water several times, check the lid and seals, then refill slowly as you observe the clarity.
The supply into the tank is shut and the tank is drained completely.
The sludge on the floor is scooped and pumped out first.
The biofilm on the walls is physically scrubbed off.
With the walls and floor clean, a disinfectant made for drinking-water storage is applied and given time to act on every surface.
The disinfectant and any loosened residue are rinsed down and pumped out, so the first tank of water after us is not carrying it.
We check the cover seal and inlet before refilling, so dust and insects stay out, then start the refill while you watch it run clear.

We send a team, not one person, so a tank is drained, cleaned, disinfected and refilled in a single visit rather than left open for days.
We look at the lid seal and inlet, because a tank that got dirty fast usually has a way in.
Nothing is closed until the tank is refilling and you have seen the water run clean.

The commitment is simple enough to actually keep: we do not leave until the tank is disinfected, refilling, and you have seen it for yourself.
East Jeddah lies furthest from the sea and closest to the open ground and hills beyond the ring roads, so the air is drier and the dust is coarser and paler than on the coast. It comes in under doors and settles on every flat surface overnight, making sofas, mattresses and curtains the heaviest part of the routine. Floors are mostly ceramic tile in the apartment districts and marble in the villa areas, both scratched by grit that is mopped rather than swept. Roof tank water leaves a grey film of sediment in baths and basins.
We provide these in Al Riyadh too, and more than one can share a single visit.
