We test before we treat
Reading the water first isn't optional to us.

Historic Jeddah is a UNESCO World Heritage zone with ancient stone and timber buildings within the old city walls, and its pipework may date back generations. Pools here are rare but do exist in the courtyards of large old houses, and incoming water carries heavy lime scale and iron particles. Exact testing is essential before any treatment.
Water here carries heavy lime scale from ancient pipes, and metal parts rust very quickly. Pools are extremely rare but do exist in the spacious courtyards of the old houses. For the method itself, see our swimming pool cleaning service in detail.
Pipes here may date from the mid twentieth century or earlier. Lime scale has accumulated inside them for decades. Water arrives loaded with heavy white sediment. These deposits clog the filter powerfully and need gentle acid treatment to clear safely.
Water in Al Balad is very hard because of deep limestone deposits. This makes chemical balance extremely difficult. Chlorine may not work efficiently when water hardness is this high, and the balance drifts fast.
Old stone and timber trap moisture. Deep courtyards and very narrow streets mean humidity is always high. This causes rapid algae and mould growth in pools even in winter months when temperature falls.
A UNESCO World Heritage zone inside the old city wall with historic stone and timber buildings in traditional roshan style, narrow lanes and old quarters, traditional markets, and all plumbing and floor finishes are antique.
Historic Jeddah water carries heavy lime scale from ancient pipes, and initial testing must reveal the scale level and determine if specialist treatment is required.
Pool walls collect thick white lime deposits, and brushing must be vigorous to remove the hard layers that build up on the tile surfaces.
The pool floor holds lime sediment and algae from high humidity, and vacuuming must be deep to remove this heavy scale deposit.
The skimmer fills quickly with algae and lime deposits because of constant high humidity, and weekly inspection is essential.
Filter backwashing takes a very long time because lime deposits cling hard to the media. Gentle acid cleaning may be needed monthly.
Chemical balance needs weekly testing. Water is so hard that balance is extremely difficult. High humidity means fast chlorine loss.
pH, sanitiser and hardness are read at the start.
Floating leaves and debris come off before we brush.
Algae and the oily waterline film cling to the surfaces.
Silt settles in the deep end and the corners the return jets never reach.
The skimmer and pump baskets are cleared and the filter checked or backwashed.
With the water clean, we balance and dose, then walk the pool with you before leaving.
Access to pools in Historic Jeddah depends on knowing their position near the Al Shafii Mosque and Souk Al Alawi, as these two landmarks define the quarters and narrow lanes in the heritage zone, and the team needs exact knowledge of addresses and routes because streets are extremely narrow and maze-like.
Reading the water first isn't optional to us.
The company runs a large crew, and we send a team rather than one person.
Pumps, vacuum heads and the test kit come with the team.
If the pump or the plumbing is the real problem, we tell you.

The commitment is simple enough to actually keep: we don't leave until you've seen the result and had your say on it.
Central Jeddah is the old heart of the city: Al Balad with its coral stone houses, and the dense apartment quarters around it with shops beneath the flats. Floors here are often terrazzo or older ceramic tile, worn smooth and easily stained by cooking grease that drifts up from the street. Older kitchens and bathrooms carry heavy scale on taps and around drains, and pipework in the older blocks leaves rust marks in basins. Rugs and curtains take on the fine black dust of the main roads, so they need washing more often than elsewhere.
We provide these in Historic Jeddah too, and more than one can share a single visit.
