We test before we treat
Reading the water first isn't optional to us.

Al Mazloom sits inside the old walled city, with tightly packed buildings and narrow lanes that create permanent shadow over residential pools. Shade slows water evaporation and reduces sunlight's natural breaking down of chlorine. This creates unusual conditions: chlorine lasts longer than it should, yet algae thrives in the dimness. Water chemistry here follows a different logic than open districts.
Water here remains cooler and more humid than other Jeddah districts, and algae blooms despite adequate chlorine because low light and high humidity create ideal conditions for shade-loving species. For the method itself, see our guide to swimming pool cleaning.
Sunlight normally breaks chlorine molecules apart and aids disinfection. The shaded old district means chlorine persists longer, requiring slightly lower doses. The trap is that shade-loving algae grows rapidly anyway, regardless of chlorine levels.
Shaded corners and spots the brush cannot easily reach turn green quickly. Manual scrubbing alone will not solve this; the water needs algaecide treatment followed by thorough brushing to remove spores and film from crevices and grout lines.
Jeddah water is mineral-rich, and shade slows evaporation, so salts remain in the pool. White deposits build up on walls faster than in sunny districts, needing constant scraping and repeated acid treatments.
The historic quarter's dense, close-built character means pools sit between high walls that block sun and wind, keeping water cooler and damper than elsewhere in Jeddah. Streets are narrow enough to funnel moisture and prevent air circulation.
Testing free chlorine and pH first reveals whether algae is due to low chlorine or simply favoured by shade and damp conditions.
Al Mazloom walls are old and tolerant of hard brushing but not aggressive concrete scrubbing; we avoid damaging already-cracked tile from age and water penetration.
Floor vacuuming here removes fine silt and fallen leaves from the narrow streets and old buildings surrounding each pool.
Skimmer and baskets need frequent cleaning because light wind in the narrow lanes leaves debris and fallen plant matter.
Backwash removes silt and lime scale, but the filter clogs faster here than in open areas due to constant humidity and dust.
Final balance adjustment includes preventive algaecide dosing at slightly higher levels than standard, because shade will continue to favour growth.
pH, sanitiser and hardness are read at the start.
Floating leaves and debris come off before we brush.
Algae and the oily waterline film cling to the surfaces.
Silt settles in the deep end and the corners the return jets never reach.
The skimmer and pump baskets are cleared and the filter checked or backwashed.
With the water clean, we balance and dose, then walk the pool with you before leaving.
Historic district: close-set buildings, narrow lanes and ageing services
Historic means tightly packed buildings and permanent shadow, which shifts water chemistry completely. Chlorine does not degrade from sun exposure, yet algae thrives in the dimness. Algae suppression needs understanding of how permanent humidity and shade alter growth dynamics.

The company runs a large crew, and we send a team rather than one person.
Pumps, vacuum heads and the test kit come with the team.
If the pump or the plumbing is the real problem, we tell you.
Photographs from real jobs carried out by the crew.

The commitment is simple enough to actually keep: we don't leave until you've seen the result and had your say on it.
Central Jeddah is the old heart of the city: Al Balad with its coral stone houses, and the dense apartment quarters around it with shops beneath the flats. Floors here are often terrazzo or older ceramic tile, worn smooth and easily stained by cooking grease that drifts up from the street. Older kitchens and bathrooms carry heavy scale on taps and around drains, and pipework in the older blocks leaves rust marks in basins. Rugs and curtains take on the fine black dust of the main roads, so they need washing more often than elsewhere.
We provide these in Al Mazloom too, and more than one can share a single visit.
