We test before we wash
Testing the product on a hidden patch is a step we treat as necessary rather than optional.
Al Hindawiyah is a densely packed old quarter close to Jeddah Islamic Port, where flats sit above shops and workshops. Sofas absorb port humidity, salt air and the odours of ground floor trades simultaneously. Ordinary vacuuming reaches only the surface. Only proper washing matched to the fabric type penetrates what has settled inside.
Flats here sit directly above shops, and port humidity and sea moisture enter sofas rapidly. Odours from workshops and storage areas embed themselves deeper into the fabric than in ordinary districts. For the method itself, see the full sofa and upholstery cleaning page.
Al Hindawiyah sits very close to Jeddah Islamic Port and salt water. High humidity enters sofas and causes stale, musty odours and rapid mildew. Cleaning without careful drying does not solve the problem.
Ground floor shops and workshops below the flats release odours and vapours that rise into the units above: tailoring, metal work, dyeing, baking. These odours embed themselves deep in the sofa and vacuuming cannot remove them.
The small flats in Al Hindawiyah have very high humidity because ventilation is poor and the port is near. Sofas dry very slowly after cleaning and need equipment that pulls moisture out and controlled air flow.
An old densely populated quarter dating from the nineteenth century, with high population density and over two hundred shops and workshops, small flats with shared entrances above them.
We test the fabric first because much of it is aged and very sensitive to moisture and strong products.
Deep vacuuming extracts moisture and dirt from the foam layers where they have settled from shops and workshops below.
We wash the fabric, back and sides with great care using products safe on aged upholstery, and focus on odour removal.
Cushions are washed on both faces with care, especially if the fabric is old and delicate.
Stains are treated carefully by type: moisture and mildew stains, odours and discolouration, each with a product safe on old fabric.
Wet extraction and ventilation are crucial here: we pull out all moisture and arrange ventilation carefully to speed drying and prevent mildew.
Cotton, velvet, chenille and synthetics do not take the same heat or the same product.
Before any water.
An oil mark is not treated like a juice mark.
We wash with the method that suits the fabric.
The piece is left slightly damp, never wet.
We go over the pieces with you before leaving.

The company employs more than forty cleaners, and we send a crew rather than an individual.
The washing and extraction machines are ours and travel with the crew.
If a piece needs reupholstering rather than washing, we say so.

The commitment is simple enough to be keepable: we do not leave until you have seen the result and given your view of it.
We reach your flat from Port Street or Al Dhahab Street near Zawiyat Al Hunud Mosque or Umar ibn Al Khattab Mosque, depending on the exact location in the old quarter.
We provide these in Al Hindawiyah too, and more than one can share a single visit.
