We test before we clean
Testing the material on a hidden spot is a step we treat as necessary, not optional.

Al Yaman is one of the four historic quarters inside the old city wall of Jeddah in the southern part of Al Balad, with heritage stone and timber buildings standing very close together on very narrow lanes. Flooring is old worn terrazzo that may leak water from wet extraction. Carpet needs careful handling because aged floors cannot tolerate much water.
Old terrazzo flooring here is worn and may leak water from wet extraction underneath the carpet. The lanes are so narrow that transport is difficult and work happens in very tight spaces. For the method itself, see the full carpet and rug cleaning page.
Old worn terrazzo flooring in Al Yaman quarter may have small cracks or severe wear. Strong wet suction may pull water through under the carpet into the floor below, causing long-term dampness and bad smells. We test the floor first and use gentle directed wet suction with great caution.
Al Yaman's streets are very narrow and mostly narrow steep steps underground. Moving carpet and carrying equipment through such tight spaces is very difficult. We use lightweight portable equipment in the narrow quarter lanes.
The old quarter sits at low elevation above sea level and may have high ground moisture from groundwater. Carpet after washing may hold dampness longer because of ground moisture. We dry with strong fans and full ventilation before we leave.
A historic quarter in the southern part of the old city south of Souk Al Alawi, with stone and timber buildings close together on very narrow lanes, and old worn terrazzo flooring that is cracked and aged.
Coloured and light carpet in old flats traps dust and oils easily, so we sort by fibre type first to choose the right approach before treatment.
Settled dust in the pile needs deep dry vacuuming first with caution for the old floor, before any water is used.
Oil and dust stains from aged floors need manual treatment with hot water and special agents before full washing.
Washing uses warm water not very hot to protect the old flooring, and wet extraction is gentle and directed with great care.
Fitted carpet in old flats is cleaned in place with warm water and very gentle wet suction from the old floor.
Wet extraction is precise to prevent water seeping under old flooring, then we dry with strong fans and full ventilation before leaving.
Wool, synthetic and silk-blends do not take the same heat or the same material.
Before any water.
An oil stain is not treated like a juice stain.
Hot water loosens what is bound in the pile and the extractor pulls it straight back out with the water, together, so nothing is left sitting in the base.
The borders and fringe are done by hand, where machines skip and where wear shows first, so the whole rug looks even.
The carpet is left slightly damp, not wet.
Al Yaman sits about 0.5 km from Al Sahifah and about 0.5 km from Historic Jeddah.

The company runs a large workforce, and we send a team rather than one worker.
The deep vacuum and extraction machines are ours and arrive with the team.
If a rug needs repair or re-fringing rather than cleaning, we say so.

The commitment is simple enough to actually keep: we do not leave before you have seen the result and told us what you think.
Al Yaman lies south of Souk Al Alawi street and close to Hassan Annani Mosque, and work is organised through the local lanes and Souk Al Alawi, which requires knowledge of the old quarter's very narrow paths.
We provide these in Al Yaman too, and more than one can share a single visit.
